What are Microgreens?
Microgreens are concentrated nutrients and have aromatic flavors. They are young vegetables that are approximately 1–3 inches (2.5–7.5 cm) tall and come in various colors and textures. Microgreens are considered baby plants that shouldn't be confused with sprouts, which don't have any leaves. Sprouts' growing cycle is much shorter, consisting of only 2-7 days, whereas microgreens are harvested somewhere between 7-21 days after germination. Similar to baby greens, only the stems and leaves are edible for microgreens, but unlike baby greens, microgreens can be sold before being harvested and are considerably smaller in size. This implies that the plants can be purchased and cut at home, keeping them alive until they are eaten. This shows that microgreens are very easy to grow and can be grown in various locations, including outdoors or even on your windowsill. Microgreens have a large range of tastes depending on the variety; these can range from spicy to slightly sour to neutral, sometimes even bitter. The flavors usually come off as concentrated and strong.

Sprouts' growing cycle is much shorter, consisting of only 2-7 days, whereas microgreens are harvested somewhere between 7-21 days after germination, leading to them having 4-40 times more nutrient value than regular-sized vegetables. All parts of microgreens are edible. They are small but pack a punch in terms of flavor and nutrients. Microgreens can be made from all vegetables, leafy greens, and herbs, each having different health benefits and a large range of tastes depending on the variety, ranging from spicy to slightly sour to neutral, and sometimes even bitter.
